Girls of Destiny 2016 Camper I had so much fun and met many new friends. The camp is amazing. We modeled , danced , cooked, learned how to create mobile Apps and how to set a nice table. The volunteers are nice. The banquet was the best, live DJ , lots of food

Girls of Destiny Canada is dedicated to ensuring t

Girls of Destiny Canada is dedicated to ensuring that our girls have the skills and experience to be leaders of tomorrow. We encourage girls ages 12 to 17 to pursue their passions and get involved in STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Maths) initiatives, if it suits their interest. Our ‘Girls Can Code’ workshop encouraged the girls to create a new smartphone app which they entered into the Technoavation Global App Creation Contest.

Using Your Voice is a unique workshop by GDC happening tomorrow, Saturday March 26, at 1:30 p.m.!

The workshop is focused on teen girls as Dr. Jennifer Tang explains the importance of taking care of yourself. This includes a talk on physical and emotional health. You will have a chance to ask any questions or concerns.

Then, our host Michelle Sutherland will tell you how to gain confidence through story writing and public speaking. All attendees will be able to practice!

Lorna Pat Chacha, founder of Girls of Destiny Canada (GDC), explains the ‘Girls Talk Circle’ workshop in this video. The workshop provides girls with a safe space to discuss issues impacting them, in confidence, and free of judgment. The topics that are discussed are chosen by the girls and they come up organically. It is empowering for younger and older girls to work together to find solutions, and they form a bond as they give each other guidance and advice. It helps everyone involved, knowing they are not alone. They have a circle of love to support them.

The Girls of Destiny Canada ‘Girls Talk Circle’ workshop will be held this Sunday, March 27th at 3:30 pm.

We are happy to announce two new Girls of Destiny workshops! 🥳
On Friday, March 26, learn the essential skills to prepare, present or speak to any group of people. This workshop will boost your self-esteem by using your own voice.
The second workshop on March 27 provides a safe space for you to share your thoughts and concerns among friends.

Since 2003, GDC has created and refined workshops

Since 2003, GDC has created and refined workshops focused on teen girls and their self-esteem issues:

1. Girls Can Code is a STEM program where 18 past participants created a mobile app prototype.

2. Stars of the Universe Youth Leadership is a value-based interactive and practical program designed to equip youth, with the skills needed to become productive and successful adults and community leaders.

A National Report on the State of Self-Esteem show

A National Report on the State of Self-Esteem shows 75 per cent of girls with low self-esteem engage in negative activities such as cutting, bullying, smoking, drinking, poor eating habits.
In 2018, National Eating Disorder Information Centre found 58 per cent of grade nine and 10 girls are trying to lose weight and 50 per cent of all girls who do this are classified to be “normal weight”
According to an article from the National Post in 2021, the lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic led to an increase in eating disorder cases among girls aged 12 to 18, leaving Ontario’s paediatric hospitals overwhelmed.
The workshops provided by GDC are designed to increase the self-esteem and self-confidence of young girls in the hopes of countering these negative behaviours 🌺

In 2003, Lorna Pat Chacha, as an educator and coun

In 2003, Lorna Pat Chacha, as an educator and counsellor, realized low self-esteem was a huge contributor to the negative behaviour of many teen girls. That is why she founded Girls of Destiny Canada (GDC).

Today, GDC is a mentorship and personal development program for girls 11 to 17- years old. The program empowers them with the confidence they need to become strong, confident and successful young women.
