GIRL TALK CIRCLE
Girls of Destiny Canada: "Girl Talk Circles Monthly"
Program Overview:
“Girl Talk Circles Monthly” is a year-long empowerment program designed for middle school girls (ages 11-17). These monthly gatherings provide a transformative space for personal growth, leadership development, and community building. Each session introduces a unique theme, fostering continuous self-discovery and empowering girls to voice their experiences and share insights.
In a safe, judgment-free circle, participants explore what it means to be a girl today while building connections and confidence to pursue their goals. Through meaningful conversations on topics like friendship, body image, racial discrimination, bullying, school life, social media, and cultural expectations, girls gain invaluable life skills and peer support.
Program Highlights:
- Empowerment Through Sharing: Girls openly discuss their experiences, offering mutual support and creating a sense of belonging.
- Thematic Focus: Each month, new themes allow participants to explore diverse aspects of self-empowerment and personal growth.
- Guided by Caring Facilitators: Circles are facilitated by dedicated adults and young adults, including Girls of Destiny leaders, social workers, counselors, and alumni. Facilitators encourage girls to discover their own solutions rather than offering prescriptive advice.
Guidelines for Participation:
To ensure a respectful and supportive environment, participants agree to:
- Respect all contributions equally.
- Avoid put-downs or interruptions.
- Share personal experiences without judgment.
- Maintain the confidentiality of what’s shared in the group.
