For over two decades, Girls of Destiny Canada has empowered young women to rise above challenges and unlock their true potential. Through mentorship, leadership programs, and personal growth workshops, we provide a nurturing environment for girls aged 11-17 to grow, thrive, and lead. We believe in shaping confident, capable young women who are ready to take on the world.
We’ve helped a thousand young women step into their confidence, explore new opportunities, and build lifelong friendships.

Dr. Pat Chacha began Girls of Destiny Canada in 2003 in obedience to the call of God, to serve the community, and empower teen girls with confidence to become strong young women.

2003
Founding Girls of Destiny Canada
Establishment of Girls of Destiny Canada by Professor Pat Chacha. our journey began with a bold vision to create a safe space where young girls could nurture their self-esteem, build confidence, and develop the leadership skills needed to thrive in life. Girls of Destiny Canada was born to empower and inspire the next generation of strong, independent women.
2005
Educational Services
Launch of Destiny Light Educational Services, an academic and scholarship coaching consulting business. Partnership with various organizations such as the Aga Khan Ismaili Foundation , Peel School Board and Toronto Boys and Girls Club.
2010
Expanding Our Programs
In 2010, we expanded our program to include coding for apps. This addition has allowed us to provide participants with essential tech skills that are highly valuable in today’s digital world.
2020
Embracing Digital Transformation
In 2020, we embraced the digital era, introducing online programs, workshops and virtual mentoring sessions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to reach even more girls across Canada. This shift allowed us to continue delivering impactful programs, even in challenging times, ensuring that no girl is left behind.
2022
Introduction of the Girl Talk Circle
Sisterhood Connections initiative to foster meaningful conversations, build lifelong friendships, and create a safe space where teen girls can share their stories, support each other, and grow together.
2024 Onward
Empowered over 1,000 Girls
Since inception, Girls of Destiny Canada has empowered over 1,000 girls to improve their self-esteem and personal development through various camps, programs, workshops and mentorship.
ACHIEVING EXCELLENCE TOGETHER
Our Achievements
Scholarship Success: Through Destiny Light Educational Services, graduating high school students have won upto $40,000 in scholarships.
Community Impact: GDC has built strong partnerships with community organizations, churches, and schools, fostering a supportive environment for young girl.
Global Reach: The organization has extended its impact beyond local communities, reaching out to support orphaned and poor children in rural communities of Africa through Teamwork Children’s Services International.

Behind every successful journey are the guiding lights that illuminate the path Girls of Destiny Canada (GDC) is blessed with a dynamic volunteer leadership team who enjoys empowering young women with confidence to realize their dreams and achieve their goals. Each member brings a unique set of skills, experiences, and passions, all united by a common goal: to nurture the potential of every girl and hel her shine like a star.

Our Leaders/Mentors

Paula Brown
Paula coordinates support for people with developmental disabilities and their families. She coordinates the meals and snacks for the GDC camps, workshops and seminars.

Pollyanna Darryl
Is a high school educator with the Peel District School Board, who enjoys writing and proof reading.

Sharon Whittaker
Sharon is restorative justice counselor, who is passionate about helping youth who have had involvement with the justice system. She has been with Girls of Destiny Canada since 2003. Sharon teaches worship dance, tambourine and flagging workshops.

Michelle Sutherland
Michelle is an educator within the Peel District School Board. She prefers teaching and learning with intermediate students. She loves to work with struggling teenage readers and help them to improve their reading fluency, reading comprehension and critically thinking skills. She is a published author, songwriter and poet. She wrote “I Am a Girl of Destiny” a self esteem building poem.

Sharon Wickham
Of Celeste Design and ATAP productions has been with Girls of Destiny Canada since 2003. Sharon is known for coordinating costumes for movies such as Awake (2021), Jigsaw (2017) and Matilda's Bridge, a Duppy Story (2020). Sharon also hosts Roots Reggae Hub radio show. She created Dress like a Princess workshop and is an advocate for youth.

Chevon Gilzene
Girl of Destiny Canada Camp alumni Chevon, is a Musician Singer/ songwriter and a banker. She enjoys empowering young people.

DR. Jennifer Tang
Jennifer Tang- Owner of Tangible Health is a licensed naturopathic doctor, researcher, and humanitarian speaker. She coordinates the health care workshops.

Korkor Amegatcher
Princess Korkor, as she is affectionately called, is a published author who has established herself as an entrepreneur in the art of "Etiquette, Manners and the Social Graces. Korkor has been coordinating the etiquette workshops.

Denyse Dawes
Denyse and her husband David have been supporting GDC for more than ten years by sponsoring a girl to attend our camp. Denyse is passionate about investing her time with young women.

Julene Chung
is a digital health nurse, a publisher with focus on digital health, entrepreneurship and women’s empowerment. She assists with social media marketing. Julene has worked in the areas of adolescence health and clinical research. She is passionate about empowering young women to pursue STEM careers and entrepreneurship.

Pastor David and Ilyn Reyes
Are dedicated pastors with a passion for empowering young people. With over 20 years of experience in ministry, Pastors David and Ilyn have a proven track record of inspiring and guiding individuals towards spiritual growth and personal development.

Samantha Robinson
Samantha Robinson- is a trained professional Clinical Social Worker Psychotherapist and a published author. She is passionate about helping children and families facing mental health issues, by raising awareness and invoking God. Her first published book, “Helper, A Friend to Many, is birthed from Samantha's personal childhood mental health challenges, in her relationship with both anxious intrusive thoughts, as well as episodes of depression.

Alonia Glassi
Alonia is passionate about mentoring.With a strong belief in the potential of every individual, Alonia has volunteered countless hours mentoring teens girls. As a mentor, Alonia inspires others to reach their full potential, fostering a supportive and encouraging environment.

Kayan Gilzene
Kayan is an accountant who loves to empower youth. She uses her passion for decorating to enhance the GDC banquet and workshop spaces.

Michael Gardner
Michael is a strategist, entrepreneur and a problem solver. He enjoys empowering both adults and young people.
